Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Your Voice & The Internet

I will make this short and sweet today. Most of us yearn to share what is on our mind. Most of us don’t always feel heard and that’s what makes some of us turn to writing. Be warned of what you write, because your words hold immense amount of power.

I recently wrote about the major pitfalls of obtaining your own health insurance. To this day, I still haven’t received my health insurance card. I am still waiting until Monday to call HealthNet back to ask them if they “found” my check. Yes, I mailed the check via online banking the way most folks in the 21st Century pay bills. So, to give you a little background before I dive into the power of the Internet, I wanted to share what had initially prompted me to write the article in the first place.

And if anyone read the entire article, they’d find that I picked an insurance already. Although I am not totally happy with HealthNet and do have a bad first impression, I already paid for the insurance. So, I am not too thrilled with the thought of switching to another insurance just yet. It’s taken sooo long just to speak to someone at Covered California. I had to call them 3 separate times and with each phone call the wait to speak to a human was at least 45 minute or longer. I called them 3 times because I had to straighten out the health care fiasco with HealthNet. Covered California said that HealthNet was to blame, then when I called HealthNet they said it was Covered California who was the bad guy. Anyway, now I am almost there and hope to get some sort of confirmation by next week as to when my insurance card will actually arrive. Hopefully they’ve actually located my check, which Chase Bank (my bank) shows that HealthNet cashed my check on September 19th.

What does this have to do with the power of the Internet, you might be asking yourself? Well, ever since I wrote that article, I am not exaggerating, I received approximately 40 plus phone calls from all around the United States from competing health care providers. Unbelievable. I had to start blocking numbers on my phone because the phone calls wouldn’t stop. I have also received insurance pitches via traditional mail from competitors wanting me to switch to their insurance. My article has only been up for two days. Due to the volume of social media accounts I currently have in addition to my readers and the number of hits my site has received world wide; I guess I underestimated the power of the Internet and the power of my voice.

The Bottom Line:

Do not underestimate the power of your voice and the impact you can make when speaking up. The Internet has become an amazing tool for so many that desire to publish what they have to say. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and do not think that what you have to say will not be heard. You’ll be surprised just how powerful you really are, but no one can hear you if you do not speak up.
