You Do Not Complete Me

You do not complete me
I accept you, you accept me
we accept each other
You do not complete me
I accent you, you accent me
we are strong and weak
You do not complete me
I am whole, you are whole
we can only complete ourselves

That is the kind of a relationship I want to be in

Valentine’s Day got me thinking about this whole romance and relationship business. I thought about that whole “You complete me” nonsense from Jerry Maguire, while it sounds romantic it’s unhealthy. Think about what it means…you need someone else to make you whole? We should all be whole without needing someone else to fill some vacancy inside. 🙂

It should be like you “extend me” ? Just wondering. Sounds pretty solid what you are saying though.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head! It should be “you extend me!” I’ll have to make that a future post! I love your blog by the way and your post on loneliness! 🙂

I love this photo and can connect with the poem as well. The audio via SoundCloud is great. I’m starting to see more and more writers and poets use SoundCloud.

Me too, I noticed SoundCloud and at first I was hesitant to do it. Then, I thought it would also serve as a great audio visual poem on Instagram. 🙂

Beautiful poetry. So true, No one can complete you if you are always broken inside.

Love this! Sometimes I get comments about my relationship with my husband. Our lives aren’t just about each other and it works for us. It’s kind of wonderful

That is really good to hear and I agree. Through trial and error I learned the hard way. 🙂
