Healthy competition exists in every industry. However, some fields are much more competitive than others. This is especially true for the entertainment industry and most, if not all, creative fields.
If you don’t want the stress of not knowing how or when you will break into the industry, then entertainment is certainly not for you. There are many people who choose a career in medicine, law, engineering, technology, and computer science because these are fields that, while not without stiff competition, tend to be more stable. That is a healthy goal to have, especially when you start building a family.
For those of us who have a desire to not simply work but to thrive in a particular creative field, then we have to be prepared to think outside of the box. According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary quirky <adjective › means different from the ordinary in a way that causes curiosity or suspicion.
While there are many, many ordinary individuals on this planet there are quite a few with idiosyncrasies, and let’s just say these extraordinary individuals might be considered, well, peculiar. One recommendation from the industry pros during that session stressed that you need to work on more just one project at a time. And, they advised, you should not just concentrate on a project that is your “baby,” which can channel all of your creative energy in to that one piece of work. Basically, you don’t want to put all your eggs in one creative basket. Diversify.
The art of tattooing has come a long way, evolving in how it defines individuals with regards to societal status and growing out of the taboo phase. According to the Smithsonian magazine, it holds ancient and mysterious history that can be tracked as far back as 4000-3500 B.C. One famous 5200-year-old Iceman mummy has more than 50 tattoos. It is said that the tattoos were used for therapeutic measures, rather than symbols. Approximately 85% of the Iceman tattoo’s coincide with acupuncture points. But the exact reason for the tattoos depends a lot upon the culture and the time.
