Take a Vacay From Technology #4TechJunkies
Most of us are coming back from Memorial Day weekend, dragging our feet back in to work. Or maybe you’re the lucky one who was able to take an extra day or two so that you can really catch up on some rest and relaxation.
But how much of a vacation was it, really? Are you guilty of checking your smart phone for text messages and new emails while also taking a peek at any outlandish social media updates? Regardless of your ethnicity, gender, career or chosen profession most people in today’s 21st century technology-obsessed culture cannot live without their techy-vice. For most of us, our smart phone is our drug of choice. We’re addicted to our smart phones that do for us what we seemingly can no longer maintain for ourselves. Our smart phones bring us order, help us conduct research, provide ideas on where to eat, give directions when we’re lost, and connect us to the entire world with a click of a social media app. Read the rest of this entry »

Technology for Weight Loss & Life Management?
Technology has played a pivotal role in our social lives, becoming an everyday part of our daily interaction with the outside world. Modern technology has fused tablets, computers, and smartphones with social media making our lives either more simple or complex, depending upon how you choose to use it. Social media has definitely taken up more of our time. Once upon a time, we used to sit and have lunch together. We used to talk to each other in person or over the phone, but now a text, tweet, or IM suffices the need for human contact. Read the rest of this entry »

Technology + Social Media + Internet = No Privacy?
In our modern technological age of social media and the Internet, information and content sharing can go viral with one click. It can be your bad hair picture or maybe a picture you didn’t want anyone to see and in the wrong hands of an ex scorned lover, suddenly your naughty picture has gone viral.
Perhaps your picture or text message was sent by your own hands. Maybe you made a rookie mistake, fumbling the direct message option on twitter and turning what was meant to be private into a public message. Just ask Anthony Weiner and how his “private” – or is it “privates?” – direct message got accidentally sent public via Twitter. It cost him his career and nearly cost him his marriage. But the former Congressman isn’t the only one that has been in the hot seat due to social media and or technology. Read the rest of this entry »

Where’s Your Focus: The Mistake or the Solution?
No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes; however, how hard are you on yourself when you fall down? Sometimes we do stupid things and sometimes stupid things happen to us. That’s life and although it sounds a little cliché, it’s not what happens to us but how we handle the situation. Knowing how to handle your mistakes in a productive manner is imperative in both your professional and personal life. Read the rest of this entry »

Yelping for Business
I am pretty blown away by just how many new businesses I have discovered and have not been referred to by friends. While some people choose to lean on the opinion of their closest buddies, I have started to trust in yelp reviews more and more.
This can be unfortunate for some businesses because anyone with too much time on their hands can jump online and write something nasty just for kicks. What I have found though is that a good portion of my friends rely heavily on customer reviews and their main research tool is yelp. I used to not be as in to yelp as I am now. Having moved back to Los Angeles from New York, the site has served to be a great guide in reacquainting me with the good and the bad that Los Angeles has to offer.
