Mental, Physical, Spiritual: A Balanced & Fit Life Is A Happy One

If you’re feeling sluggish, there’s not enough coffee that can get you going. Trust me on this. As a matter of fact, too much caffeine can send you crashing later.

Yesterday, I played with my daughter at an indoor play park (more like a friggen’ boot-camp obstacle course), only to feel myself wiped out! Seriously, running around chasing after a 2-year-old is a work out, let me tell you! And if you have a full-time or part-time job, it’s tough to make the time to hit the gym. If you’re not a morning person, then the only other option is to exercise after work or during your lunch hour, but some of us are too exhausted or busy.

When I’m exercising, I definitely feel clearer and also feel like I have accomplished something. Getting my body moving helps with sending oxygen to my brain and gets the endorphins kicking in. I also feel myself thinking of new blog ideas and my creative juices flow. So, if you’re experiencing writer’s block or feel blocked in general and sluggish,I say exercising is the best way to regain energy that you need. It’s a matter of figuring out a good time that works for you.

We all complain that we don’t have enough time for a lot of things. I definitely know the feeling, but if you want to be your best self you must make the time. Caring for yourself and loving yourself means taking care of your mind, which is connected to our body and our spirit. I’m a firm believer that we have to check in and see how all three areas of our lives are doing.

Example: You can be a gym rat, but if you’re dieting it can create mood swings. Strict dieting or an excess of anything can make you feel “off.” Think about the high-protein diet. It forces people to refrain from eating carbs, but the complex variety sends much-needed oxygen to the brain. Limiting complex carbs and only focusing on protein can result in a sluggish, cranky person who is not easy to get along with. Not sleeping enough and stress can also create a mood imbalance.

It’s simple enough to say, that all we need is to eat a balanced diet, have a proper sleep regimen, exercise, and do something for you that will lift your spirit. It’s often easier said than done. Personally, I’ve noticed that if I’m overdoing it in one area in my life and neglecting other areas, then I’m off-balance. Being off balance doesn’t only affect you, but the people you interact with daily.

The Bottom Line:

Balance is key to living a healthy life and successfully reaching our goals. If we’re mentally drained, we won’t have the physical energy to get out there and exercise. If we’re spiritually broken, neglecting our passions and what makes us feel good creates imbalance, no matter how hard you exercise and maintain other areas. Mental, physical, and spiritual: All three areas of our lives are important. Clarity means having energy, which equates to having a level head and feeling emotionally healthy.

If you’re experiencing sluggishness, or just the opposite in that you’re feeling edgy like you’re on an emotional roller coaster, know that you can apply the brakes, get off the ride and embrace a balanced life. It’s a matter of maintaining your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Get outside and walk, do something you love, and your mind will thank you for it.

I really like your article and powerful image. I truly believe the secret to happiness is achieving balance in your personal and professional life. It’s difficult with all the different directions we are pulled. So much is expected of us these days, and so many distractions. It’s on us individually to identify what’s truly important in our lives and to make adequate time. You make great points!

I agree with you, personal and professional balance is so important. I think that’s why some people are unhappy if their professional life is fine, but not their personal life and vice versa. 🙂

So true, especially after reading your blog on loss. If you’re dealing with a loss of some kind or an ill child, it’s so hard to find balance when it’s all about them. ❤

Yes! A crisis situation reminds you on what is and isn’t important. We do many “busy” tasks every day that aren’t absolutely necessary. As long as we remember to take care of ourselves and spend time with our loved ones, we accomplished something in a day.

So very true and many families today don’t even see each other orhave dinner together because both parents are working. I think every family ought to have a rule where they set some time in the day or at least one day within the week for quality time.

So true. Set electronics and work aside and spend even and hour together.

everyone is too busy or stressed for this balance when running around
but it doesn’t have to be like that. so I appreciate how you highlight with examples that a single habit or activity can be beneficial in multiple aspects

Thank you and you are right, we get too busy. But we should put our health as top priority because if we don’t feel well mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually…then we can’t be productive or be there for others. ❤️

    Hello Sonyo,

great post.It is indeed the key of success I agree. Mental health without physical health is nothing, and vice versa.Somehow, it is connected.People who are ready to have a great life, they must be ready not only to change their mind but also for the physical change. In healthy body is healthy mind, right.

    Thank you

So true Ben, everything is connected. If we overdo us on one area but neglect another area of our life- then we find ourselves in misery. I’ve noticed when I am the most unhappy it’s when I am over focused in one area and neglecting other parts of my life. Balance is so important and we are capable of achieving it. Thank you for your insight! ❤️
